This tool extracts pictures that are embedded in the PDF as image objects. Charts, logos, and diagrams are often vector graphics — drawn with lines and shapes, not stored as images — so there is nothing to extract. Scanned PDFs work the other way: each page is usually one big photo, so you'll get a single full-page image per page. If you want every page saved as a picture regardless, use our PDF to Images tool instead.

All images are saved as PNG files, which is lossless — nothing is recompressed, so you keep the full quality that was stored in the PDF. Note that images originally embedded as JPEG are converted to PNG on the way out, so file sizes can be larger than the originals.
